OliverasBoixArquitectos participates in the cycle of conferences organized by the Department of Architectural Projects of the Barcelona School of Architecture, with a talk to the 2nd year students. The conference, which takes the title "Starting on the roof", will focus on the intervention on existing buildings through 3 cases: Alchemika, the Montbau Library and the Ateneu de Fabricació de Gràcia.

19/10/2018 // Import WB_Export BCN. Re-activate the city

Alchemika facilities complex is part of the exhibition Import WB _Export BCN. Re-activate the city. It will be on display from October 18thtill November 18th at ULB - Faculty of architecture La Cambre-Horta, Brussels.

Curated by Nicola Regusci and Xavier Bustos, this exhibition takes place within the framework of  Cities Connection Project (CCP), which was created with the desire to establish a cultural connection between two European cities with an important architectural and cultural tradition. The cities of Zurich, Mendrisio, Geneva and Lausanne were involved in the previous editions. This edition between Wallonia-Brussels and Barcelona is centered on the re-use of existing spaces, the mixed use and the reconstruction of the city.

The Alchemika facility complex is part of the exhibition Mixed Use, Mixed Time, Mixed People that the AMB and the IaaC present at the Mercè Sala de TMB Space. The exhibition, that participated in the first edition of the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, presents a selection of 6 hybrid equipments of the Barcelona metropolitan area. It can be visited until the end of June.

07/09/2017 // Alchemika at the 1st Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism

Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the IAAC exhibit together Mixed Use, Mixed Time, Mixed People within the central expo ‘Imminent Commons’ at the first Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism from September 1st to November 5th.

The “Mixed Use, Mixed Time, Mixed People” exhibition focuses on the potential of Barcelona’s hybrid public equipments acting as urban attraction poles and intergenerational meeting points.

Alchemika Facilities Complex, a work of OliverasBoixArchitects is one of the six chosen buildings located in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

The Enlargement and renovation of Montbau Library, work of OliverasBoixArchitects, has been mentioned in the 2nd edition of the Barcelona Architecture Exhibition, organized by COAC, the Catalan Architects Association. The work has been the only mention awarded by the jury in the category of Rehabilitation. The jury has been consisted of Mario Corea, Imma Jansana, Octavi Mestres, Carme Pinós, Jordi Rogent, Manuel Ruisánchez, Jaume Bernada y Maria Clara Riera.

20/12/2012 // OliverasBoix Architects winners of the BASF Architecture Prize

OliverasBoixArquitectes win the BASF Architecture Prize with the project of teh Old Alchemika Factory civic facilities complex. The competition, organised by BASF with the collaboration of COAC, recognises projects of the last 5 years that have used a BASF product or solution.

The jury, consisting of Enric Mir, Gerald Wadel, Manuel Ruisánchez, as well as Carmen Moral and Andreas Moser, architects from BASF Spain, particularly noted, “the intelligent urban interaction of a complex and diverse social programme brought about by the rehabilitation of existing buildings and the construction of new ones to create high-quality architecture and spaces that respect the historical memory of the old site.”

Opening of the Caterina Albert public library in the Alchemika complex of public amenities. Construction of the new multipurpose building began in September 2009. The library has 2,800 m2 and is the first in Barcelona with a self-service borrowing system.
